Prelude to Axanar

Normaal gezien blog ik alleen over TV programma's, maar ik heb besloten om een keer (en zal ook niet de laatste keer zijn) eens aandacht te besteden aan een film gemaakt voor het Internet.

Een groep bekende en niet zo bekende professionele filmmakers heeft met behulp van donaties een onafhankelijke Star Trek film gemaakt. Onafhankelijk omdat dit niet direct een product is van de officiële producenten, maar wel een film die gedoogd wordt door hen. Mits ze geen winst maken hierop. Is dit de eerste film van dit type? Neen! Maar misschien wel de meest professionele tot op heden.

De film   'Prelude to Axanar' is gemaakt alsof het een historische documentaire betreft uitgezonden op een speciaal 'historisch kanaal' van de United Federation of Planets.
Het verhaalt over de Vier Jarige Oorlog tussen de Federatie en het Klingon Imperium en wel specifiek over de aanloop van de laatste beslissende slag tussen Starfleet en de marine van de Klingons. Over Garth of Izar, bekend van de Star Trek TOS aflevering 'Whom Gods Destroy', een persoonlijk held van captain James T. Kirk, en de beslissende rol die deze legendarische Starfleet captain in die slag speelde.

Even naar beneden scrollen en bij het tweede filmpje zie je waar ik hier zo enthousiast over zit te vertellen. Als diehard Classic Trekkie beveel ik dit van harte aan!

Momenteel loop de kickstarterscampagne nog steeds om donaties in te zamelen voor de speelfilm 'Axanar'. Dat zal dan een film zijn die gaat over die laatste beslissende slag in de eerste grote oorlog tussen de UFP en de Klingons. Ik vond 'Prelude' al heel mooi en ik verwacht dat de grote film nog mooier zal zijn!
